Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to work on a planning tastk with the programm ProVI.

Students learn in the terrain section:

  • Creating projects and database files
  • Create a digital terrain model

In the rail part:

  • Designing a simple alignment of a Double-Track Line
  • Construct a turnout connection in the straight line
  • Create and determine the curvature string
  • Develop a transverse profile and a bridge taking the structure gauge into account
  • Develop a gradient taking the terrain into account

In the street part:

  • Designing an axis
  • Develop a longitudinal profile with constraint points
  • Create a cross profile including structure, lanes, drainage, and routing directions
  • Provide evidence of the required overtaking and stopping distances

In the Evaluation section:

  • Evaluating the Mass Balance for Construction/Top Layers/Base courses
  • Visualize a 3D route

Subject of course

Demonstration of the software ProVI for design and construction of traffic routes. After an introduction, students elaborate a small project on their own. Afterwards, they present the project.
