The existing townscape protection concept, historical photographs and interviews with those responsible for the town as well as with citizens of Bad Aussee form the basis for ideas on the reorientation of the existing townscape protection measures.
The course offers an introduction to social and cultural science aspects of architectural research. Teaching methodological tools to independently conduct empirical studies and make the results understandable. Special emphasis is laid on comparative architectural research, in which relationships between different aspects of the built environment in different cultural areas are compared or related to each other. This is intended to provide an understanding of the importance of the socio-cultural environment in shaping architecture. From this context, students should develop their own research questions to investigate this same sociocultural environment and its mediation.
