Am Institut für Mechanik der Werkstoffe und Strukturen werden Problemstellungen im Rahmen der Theorie fester, deformierbarer Körper gelöst. Dazu werden nicht nur analytische und numerische Verfahren (Finite Elemente Methode, Randelementemethode und hybride Verfahren), sondern auch experimentelle Methoden zur Deformationsanalyse (z.B. interferometrische Methoden) eingesetzt.

Research activities at the Institute for Mechanics of Materials and Structures concentrate on solid mechanics. Both, analytical and numerical methods (Finite Element Method (FEM), Boundary Element Method (BEM) and hybrid FE-BE-Methods) are employed within this context.
