Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • explain the basic concepts quantify and reduce the problem of trauma especially related to traffic accidents.
  • discuss research methods used in injury biomechanics and their limitations.
  • explain injury mechanisms and the related injury tolerances for the most vulnerable body parts.
  • explain background, capabilities and limitations of experimental and numerical tools for safety assessment and design.

Subject of course

Introduction to special terms used in the biomechanics of injuries. Injury scales and inury criteria for various region of the human body. Theoretical models and dummies.

Teaching methods
