Capture a specification, performing stress calculation, and design of a pressure vessel. Software for stress calculation and CAD-software are used.
Coordination of the lecture on Pressure Vessel Technology (329.024) with the corresponding design exercise (307.468):
The lecture is coordinated with the design exercise so that it is possible to complete the design exercise in the same semester as the lecture. It is recommended to complete the design exercise either parallel to the lecture in the same semester (WS) or one semester later in the summer semester.
Planned organisation (hybrid format):
The lectures will take place on site. In addition, old recordings will be made available. Meetings with participants will primarily take place on site, with online appointments also available. Design and calculation can largely be carried out on own equipment (PC) or the equipment in the CAD rooms and at the institute can be used. For work with own devices, appropriate calculation and CAD software must be installed, whereby free licences are available. Organisation, information exchange and submissions are done via the eLearning system (TUWEL).
Due to the pandemic, the format of the lectures may vary.
For the positive completion of the design exercise, the solution of a design task including static calculation is required. After the assignment has been set, a specification sheet and a listing of the calculations are prepared by the student. These two parts are not assessed, but are to be completed on time and will be corrected by the course instructor and discussed with the student. Furthermore, it is necessary to discuss the progress with the course instructor at least every 3rd meeting.
The assessment is based on the submission of a design calculation (middle of the semester; 80 points) and the submission of the design documents (end of the semester; 80 points), whereby both parts must be positive (at least 40 points each).
Attendance at the weekly meetings is strongly recommended, whereby attendance is required to the extent that the above-mentioned reviews can be carried out.
Deadlines in the summer semester 2023:
There are target dates and points will be deducted for extensions or late submissions. Submissions are possible until the following dates: Calculation until the end of the semester (30 June 2023) and constructions until 17 September 2023 (so that correction is possible until the end of the academic year).
If unforeseeable problems occur, a special arrangement (once only) can be agreed with the course instructor before the last possible submission date.
If no submission is made by the stated deadlines and no special arrangement is agreed, the course will be assessed negatively and the assignment will expire.
