Capture a specification, performing stress calculation, and design of a pressure vessel. Software for stress calculation and CAD-software are used.
Coordination of the lecture on Pressure Vessel Technology (329.024) with the corresponding design exercise (307.468):
The lecture is coordinated with the design exercise so that it is possible to complete the design exercise in the same semester as the lecture. It is recommended to complete the design exercise either parallel to the lecture in the same semester (WS) or one semester later in the summer semester.
Planned organisation:
Specifications for the design task are issued at the first meeting. The content is supplemented by the corresponding lecture on the one hand and by explanations in TUWEL on the other. In the meetings, explanations are given on the work to be done and questions are answered. Old recordings (from previous semesters) of lectures during the meetings will be made available.
The design and calculation can largely be carried out on your own equipment (PC) or the equipment in the CAD rooms can be used. To work with your own equipment, appropriate calculation and CAD software must be installed, whereby free licences are available. Organisation, information exchange and submission are carried out via the eLearning system (TUWEL).
For the positive completion of the design exercise, the solution of a design task including static calculation is required. After the assignment has been set, a specification sheet and a listing of the calculations are prepared by the student. These two parts are not assessed, but are to be completed on time and will be corrected by the course instructor and discussed with the student. Furthermore, it is necessary to discuss the progress with the course instructor at least every 3rd meeting.
The assessment is based on the submission of a design calculation (middle of the semester; 80 points) and the submission of the design documents (end of the semester; 80 points), whereby both parts must be positive (at least 40 points each).
Attendance at the weekly meetings is strongly recommended, whereby attendance is required to the extent that the above-mentioned reviews can be carried out
Deadlines in the academic year 2023/24:
There are scheduled deadlines and credits will be penalised for extensions or late submissions. Submissions are possible until the following dates: calculation until the end of the semester and constructions until the end of the late registration period for the following semester.
If unforeseeable problems occur, a special arrangement (once only) can be agreed with the course instructor before the last possible submission date.
If no submission is made by the stated deadlines and no special arrangement is agreed, the course will be assessed negatively and the assignment will expire.
