Subject of course

(How) can you (still) build?

The title refers to building in today's world with all its facets and to the explosive new construction around the Old Danube.

Using drawings, photos, collages and comics, create a visual story (picture story) that focuses thematically on the project area around the Old Danube. Develop a thematic concept with the help of a storyboard, then implement it by weaving in various means, photography, newspaper clippings, drawings, etc.
The course is held in blocks. The students explore areas of tension between the newly built architecture and the old structures through drawing.

The following ideas serve merely as suggestions:
- You are one of the natives
- You are an architect who wants to build in a climate-neutral way. What does your house on the Old Danube
look like?
- You are an architect and absolutely need a job. A large property developer commissions you
to design residential units. What does your house on the Old Danube look like? What are you
possibly be confronted with? In other words, what should you expect when you work with the future
future property developer?
- You are a (very old) fruit tree and you are standing on a plot of land on the Old Danube, exactly where
where a new building is planned.
Etc.
LVA Subjective Spaces / Spatial Utopias 2023 organizes day excursion with visit to the area of the dispute.
