Subject of course

Prater Ateliers versus farsightedness & green view

Project area: Prater Ateliers
Creating a pictorial story using a staged photo series in conjunction with drawing, this can also be done in comic style. Developing a thematic concept using a storyboard, then implementing it by weaving in different mediums, photography, newspaper clippings, drawing....
The course will be held in blocks.

Contemporary visual artists work in the Praterateliers, which were built in 1873 in the style of the historic Vienna Ringbahn. Countless animals live on the grounds of the Praterateliers - rabbits, wild rabbits, martens, a badger and a fox family, a young roebuck and many species of birds and insects. They have their habitat here and find shelter from the surrounding construction sites of Viertel Zwei and the leisure attractions of the Prater.

Viertel Zwei is a piece of urban development being carried out by Value One between 2004 and 2024 in Vienna's Leopoldstadt district. The final phase will see the construction of the 120-meter-high Weitblick building, which will provide both hotel and office space. The second building is called Grünblick and houses residential space. Both buildings are located directly next to the historic Krieau racecourse (1878).

The federal sculpture studios are to be structurally and ecologically modernized in order to preserve the historic building complex. At the same time, the studios will be established as a "modern center for contemporary art" with new event spaces. Completion of the work at the end of 2024.
