You can solve design relevant problems and formulate variants of proposed solutions in drawing.

Subject of course

The course Subjective space / Spatial utopia examines the field of creative means of communication taking into account the two-dimensional practice of representation. Students are to be enabled to acquire the purposive use of various representative means of expression for architectural practice. The procedure is determined by the influence of cultural changes and technological innovations. The course is intentionally conceived as a model of self-contemplation and is to consolidate research on adequate forms of representation / communication. Additionally, the creative effect and the influence of concrete methods of representation and means of representation on the design process is dealt with and analysed.


(How) can one (yet) build?

Project area: along the old Danube
Creating a pictorial story using a staged photo series in conjunction with drawing, this can also be done in comic style. Developing a thematic concept using a storyboard, then implementing it by weaving in different mediums, photography, newspaper clippings, drawing....
The course will be held in blocks.

Teaching methods

Introduction to the basic knowledge of the constructive perspective
Drawing of exercise examples in sketch-like form
Self-acting testing of graphic display techniques
Analytical-technical image review of artists' works
Analytical-compository pictorial discussion of artists' works
Abstraction exercises for individual graphic and compositional image design
Variation exercises for the training of the personal drawing style
