After successful completion of the course, students are able to produce a professional model of an architectural, artistic or industrial product design using analogue and digital production techniques. Students acquire practical craftsmanship as well as formal aesthetic skills (coping with questions of representation concerning scale, material, abstraction, etc.).
In contrast to the main course Architekturmodellbau 258.032, where only presentation models of architectural designs are produced, models of artistic and industrial product design can also be created in this LVA. The results are more in the area of experimental model building and prototype construction. All the materials that are usually used in model making are processed: Plastics, metals, wood, cardboard etc.
Registration is not necessary at the beginning of the semester. Registration takes place throughout the year if you submit plans of your own design as part of a registration interview. Special programs (e.g. for exhibitions) and cooperation projects with design institutes are also offered occasionally.
Within the framework of this LVA, models or parts of models can be produced with the aid of CNC-controlled machines (laser cutter, 3-axis portal milling machines). 3D printers and a spray room are also available. For the production of objects with CAM techniques (Computer Aided Manufacturing), the in-depth courses "Numerical Manufacturing Methods" (LVA 264.048 VO) and "Digital Model" (LVA 264.047 VU) are additionally recommended.
A photo studio offers the possibility of documenting the result photographically. Here we recommend the in-depth LVA 264.120 "Architectural Photography".
Workshop opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. (during holidays the workshop is closed).
