After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

• Outline attributes of a significant cultural region.
• Describe what defines these attributes of the region in its cultural context.
• Illustrate how to communicate the attributes.
• By visiting a region, analyse which attributes make up the cultural values of the region.
• And to evaluate what state these attributes are in.
• Discuss ideas that can contribute to the sustainable protection of the attributes.

This semester, the course is offered in conjunction with the Cultural Spaces module

The Cultural Spaces module will be offered in the summer semester 2024 as research-led teaching as part of the project

Cultural Landscape Inventory Hallstadt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut

will be carried out. In cooperation with representatives of the World Heritage Management Hallstadt-Dachstein/Salzkammergut, the Natural History Museum, the municipalities of Hallstadt and Bad Goisern, the history of the region, the existing ideas for site protection concepts and the need to develop appropriate tools will be discussed and an intensive documentation of the inventory will be carried out. On the basis of this research, ideas for new impulses for the protection of the World Heritage Site and possible further development will be developed.

Costs on site: 200 € for half board (overnight stay+breakfast+dinner) to be bank transferred in advance
