After successful completion of the course, students are able to
- to explain the legal background and the course of planning and construction of roads
- to demonstrate the necessary environmental related assessments in the planning process of roads
- to apply the planning and design principles of roads in specific projects
- to determine and plan the layout and design of roads of different categories on the basis of the valid (Austrian) guidelines
- to demonstrate the planning principles for roads in the urban areas (traffic calming, pedestrain traffic, bycicle traffic, stationary traffic) in practical projects
- to apply road traffic management methods in road planning
- To select the types of road drainage for the respective applications and to design the required elements
