Die TU Wien Bibliothek ist Österreichs größte Bibliothek im Bereich der Naturwissenschaften und Technik. Sie fungiert als Inkubator für nachhaltige digitale Infrastrukturen innerhalb der TU Wien mit dem Fokus auf der besseren Auffindbarkeit und dem Teilen von Forschungsergebnissen sowie der Demokratisierung von Wissen. Wir haben TU Wien Academic Press, Österreichs ersten Open-Access-Verlag, gegründet, das Zentrum für Forschungsdatenmanagement der TU Wien konzipiert und implementiert und eine führende Rolle bei persistenten Identifikatoren (ORCID Austria, DOI Service Austria) übernommen. Darüber hinaus tragen wir durch die Teilnahme an H2020-Projekten und durch den Aufbau des EOSC Support Office Austria zur Umsetzung der European Open Science Cloud bei.

In Zusammenarbeit mit den Abteilungen und Forschenden der TU Wien sind wir stets bestrebt, innovative Bibliotheksservices einzuführen. Wir haben eine Partnerschaft mit dem Doktoratskolleg TrustRobots (Bibliothek als Testumgebung für den Einsatz von Robotern im öffentlichen Raum), nehmen an einem Text-Mining-Projekt zur Verbesserung von Discovery-Strategien teil und tragen zur Forschung über Bildungslandschaften bei. Die Bibliothek bietet ein breites Spektrum an Kursen zum wissenschaftlichen Arbeiten und Publizieren für Studierende und Forschende an.

Über zweihundert Jahre Investition in Ressourcen haben zu einer international anerkannten Forschungsbibliothek geführt, die für die hohe Qualität ihrer Sammlungen und Services geschätzt wird. Wir fördern lebenslanges Lernen, indem wir jährlich eine Woche des Erasmus+ Mobilitätsprogramms für Informationsfachleute aus ganz Europa durchführen und Veranstaltungen und Ausstellungen für die breite Öffentlichkeit organisieren, um die dritte Mission der Universität zu stärken.

TU Wien Bibliothek is Austria’s biggest library in science and engineering. It acts as an incubator for sustainable digital infrastructures within TU Wien with a focus on improving discoverability and sharing research output as well as the democratisation of knowledge. We established TU Wien Academic Press, Austria’s first fully open access publishing house, conceptualised and implemented TU Wien’s Centre for Research Data Management, and have taken the lead in Austria’s persistent identifier services (ORCID Austria, DOI Service Austria). In addition, we contribute to the implementation of the European Open Science Cloud by participating in various H2020 projects and by establishing the EOSC Support Office Austria.

Collaboration with departments and researchers at TU Wien is based on mutuality, as we always aim at introducing innovative library services. We have partnered up with TU Wien’s Doctoral Programme in Robotics (library as a testbed for the use of robots in public areas and human-machine interactions), and we participate in a text mining project to improve discovery strategies and contribute to the research on educational working spaces and library construction. The library offers a wide range of information and data literacy courses for students and researchers.

Over two hundred years of investment in resources have resulted in an internationally recognised research library that is valued for the high quality of its collections and services. We foster lifelong learning by conducting an annual Erasmus+ Mobility programme week for information professionals all across Europe and by staging events and exhibitions for the general public to strengthen the university’s third mission.

TU Wien Bibliothek is dedicated to advancing and co-shaping the development of research libraries and science across borders through open science advocacy, citizen science and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, underlining the library’s role as a knowledge hub and illustrating its strong commitment to community building and knowledge transfer to society.
