Concept (German) Der Forschungsbereich Biochemische Technologie fokussiert sich auf molekulare Ökologie, Diagnostik und Gentechnik von industriellen und umweltrelevanten Mikroorganismen. Zur Erreichung der Projektziele werden modernste molekularbiologische und biochemische Werkzeuge eingesetzt. Biotechnologische Anwendungen laufender Projekte sind verbesserte Stämme von Mikroorganismen für die Biokraftstoffproduktion sowie die rote und weiße Biotechnologie. Molekulare Werkzeuge werden für die Umweltdiagnostik und das Qualitätsmanagement natürlicher Ressourcen wie Wasser, Nahrung und Futtermittel entwickelt. Der Forschungsbereich umfasst drei Forschungsgruppen: - Synthetische Biologie und Molekulare Biotechnologie - Mikrobiologie Angewandte Genomik - Umweltmikrobiologie und Molekulare Diagnostik.

Concept (English) The research area Biochemical Technology focuses on molecular ecology, diagnostics and genetic engineering of industrial and environmental important microorganisms. State of the art molecular biological and biochemical tools are applied to achieve the project goals. Biotechnological applications of ongoing projects are improved strains for bio-fuel production as well as red and white biotechnology. Molecular tools are developed for environmental diagnostics and quality management of natural recourses such as water, food and feed. The Research area hosts three research groups: - Synthetic Biology and Molecular Biotechnology - Microbiology Applied Genomics - Environmental Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics.
