Green Energy Conversion & Storage - Conversion of Green Electricity into Energy Carriers for Storage in Smart Grids

01.05.2011 - 30.04.2012
Research funding project
The Project aims to convert surplus electric power into an economic, storable energy and by this to relieve power grids from surplus energy at times of high wind power production and low demand. The electrtic power is to be converted to hydrogen by means of an electrolysis which is then processed with CO2 to methane or ethanol, both of which are established and storable energy forms. Within this feasibility study the Vienna University of Technology will discuss and analyze technical options and compare process variants.
