Online monitoring methods for wear processes of hard to watch tribocontacts
01.05.2011 - 30.04.2014
Research funding project
The project aims at gaining greater insight into wear processes. This shall be accomplished by the analysis of single tribological events which are affected by the tribological process under examination. Localisation and growth of defects shall be investigated by Acoustic Emission (AE) methods. Thereby, the sound waves are detected that originate from the elastic vibration after the onset or growth of defects. Localisation of defects is possible by measuring the differences in signal arrival times detected for different AE sensors, two of which are required for linear, and three for plane localisation.
