COMET K2 - Eigenspannungen bei der Wärmebehandlung großer Schmiedestücke
01.07.2010 - 30.06.2013
Research funding project
In the following project the influence of heat treatment on the residual stresses in large forgings in analyzed. This is done by modelling and simulation of two independent heat treatment sequences, which are hardening and controlled cooling after tempering. During hardening cracks occur due to stresses induced by nn uniform temperature distribution and micro structural changes in the part. The selective modulation of residual stresses in the forging is done during warming-off. In order to lower the probability for crack occurrence during hardening and to produce selective residual stresses in the forging finite element models are created capturing hte progress of residual thermo-mechano-micro-structural framework. Primary requirement is the exact determination of heat transfer coefficients (inverse analysis), in the subsequent steps suitable constitutive equations and the kinetics of phase transformation need to be determined on a thermo mechanical simulator. A special focus during the numerical description of the hardening process is the constitutive capture of self-tempered martensite and self-tempered-bainite. Linking the latter description with a suitable fracture criterion the improvement of the process may be assessed.
