SEcurity, Network Evolution and QoS Control for Future ALL-IP Networks
01.03.2010 - 30.09.2012
Research funding project
This project focuses on security aspects, QoS enforcement architectures and -strategies for fixed and mobile networks in the pre/post-IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) era. With looking into QoS and security the project addresses the two main areas of diversification for telecommunications network operators from the public Internet and thus the aspects that need to be strengthened. From a security perspective the project will investigate major security threats of today's Internet and NG telecommunication networks, assessing detection and protection mechanisms for mitigating these attacks. Novel mechanisms for the detection of botnets and flooding attacks often origination from these hijacked terminals will be developed. The project will mainly focus on SIP/IMS as the underlying communications infrastructure, however broadening the scope to protocol-agnostic concepts, architectures, and operation whenever possible.
