MoreSpace
01.02.2010 - 29.02.2012
Research funding project
MoreSpace is an interdisciplinary cooperation between the ¿Landsiedl, Popper OEG¿ and two institutes at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Vienna). So far a simulation (based upon mathematical simulation models and methods derived from the facility and space management) for improvement of lecture room utilization at the TU Vienna has been developed. The aim of this project is to adopt the existing system for general large-size buildings and reach a stage of pre-commercial development. In MoreSpace a product is being developed which combines scientific methods from different areas ¿ in contrast to current approaches which are usually based on simple Excel-Files. Through utilization of discrete event simulation and business process modeling aspects such as space management or travel times between lecture rooms are being considered, leading to a close-to-reality-projection of the system. Depending on the size and type of object as well as type of use, the necessary space can be reduces by as much as 40% - which leads to direct and significant cost reductions.
