RISE - Rich Services in IMS and Related Topics

01.05.2009 - 31.07.2010
Assigned research project
The IP Multimedia Subsystem's (IMS) standardization process differs from the one of previous telecommunication systems in that the standardization organization, namely the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP), did decide to NOT define services but only service capabilities for IMS. Considering this standardization to be too open, Vendors and Operators have joined 2007 in the GSM Association¿s (GSMA) Rich Communication Suite Initiative (RCSI) to define consistent minimum requirements for RCSI user terminals. Main aim of RCSI is to safeguard customer acceptance of the IP Multimedia Subsystem by defining a common, interoperable set of terminal core features and services. The project RISE covers main aspects of the RCSI work, ranging from standardization tracking, prototype analysis and testing, up to the consequences of RCSI deployments onto the mobile network architecture and proposals for improving the feature-set of later RCSI releases.
