Design of a machine tool for micro- and nano machining applications

Design and realisation of a new type of machine tool concept for cutting processes of micro- and nano structures. The prototype machine offers a workspace with a stroke in three axes by 20mm x 20mm x 20mm. Due to the high positioning accuracy structures on workpiece surfaces and workpieces in smallest dimensions can be machined in sub-micro dimensions. Main objectives of application development focus on surface treatment of hard materials, especially of cutting tools.
