Research funding project
Buildings represent the biggest reservoir of secondary resources in developed economies. Hence, from the material point of view, they are the most important products, characterized by a comparable long product life. However, contrary to many products of short and medium life spans their composition is hardly known. Therefore, efficient and goal oriented management in terms of recycling is not possible. Additionally producer or user responsibility to foster recycling is not established. This project elaborates the methodological and conceptual basis for the routinely compilation of a ¿building pass¿ for each single construction project. The building pass contains all information about the material composition of the building that is required for efficient end-of-life deconstruction, optimizes recycling rates and superior strategic questions in resource management.
