ET3- High Temperature Superconducting Materials for Fusion Magnets
01.01.2008 - 31.12.2009
Research funding project
High temperature superconducting (HTS) materials offer in principle a considerable potential for future fusion magnets. They can potentially produce extremely large magnetic fields at low temperatures or high magnetic fields at elevated temperatures (up to 77 K). The progress in coated conductor (cc) development at industry will be monitored, cable development will be initiated and actively pursued and the suitability of existing materials for operation in radiation environments will be tested. The consortium has know-how and all technical means to address all relevant issues and to develop a roadmap for the application potential of HTS cc¿s in fusion magnets.
