Improvement and Development of the Ecological Attitude in Serbia

The project duration was June 15, 2007 - June 14, 2008. The project consortium included 4 partner institutions from Serbia and 6 partner institutions from the European Union. The project was approved and funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Tempus programme. The project grantholder was Vienna University of Technology, Austria. The total project costs were 135412 EUR incl. the grant amount of 128545 EUR. Project objectives: a) Training of Serbian experts from institutions and universities with vital role in the environmental protection, waste management and recycling (EPWMR); b) Development of an analysis and recommendations for the improvement of EPWMR in Serbia with special focus on the improvement of the role and activities of higher education institutions in the areas of education, and know-how and technology transfer. c) Establishment of "InfoPoints" at University of Novi Sad and University of Kragujevac which will be responsible for strengthening of the know-how and technology transfer in the area of EPWMR. Main project outcomes: - The Serbian project partner gained new knowledge and experience in the area of EPWMR during the seminars, training visits organised at EU partner institutions, as well as during the development of the "Guide for the Development of Environmental Protection , Waste management and Recycling in Serbia"; - Serbian partners gained experience in preparation and management of international projects funded by the EU; - Serbian partners supported by the EU partners developed and published the "Guide for the Development of Environmental Protection, Waste management and Recycling in Serbia", ISBN 978-86-7892-115-5; - The project information leaflet has been developed and published; - Info Points in the area of EPWMR have been established at the University of Novi Sad and the University of Kragujevac; - The project results have been disseminated trough the project web page (http://ideas.ns.ac.yu), information leaflet, final conference organised in the project, interviews and information in newspapers, TV and radio.
