B1: A special-purpose meta-search generator for integrating deep web data

01.02.2007 - 31.12.2009
Forschungsförderungsprojekt
The aim of this project application is the creation of a special-purpose meta-search generator for integrating deep web data behind complex query interfaces and in the long term providing intelligent services to consumers. Typical application scenarios are domain-specific searches with complex web query interfaces, such as finding the cheapest flight over several airlines within a specific date range. In this project the creation of a solid semantic mapping framework and a worlflow-based execution-engine as core of a future meta-search system are researched. In particular, we perform basic and experimatnal research towards the following goals: - Automatic understanding process for complex web query interfaces, and generation of an abstract ontological representation of each form. -Interaction possibilities for application designers - a semi-automatic system that supports visual creation and adaption of mappings. - A sophisticated execution engine for managing a meta-search process based on orchestration concepts. At its core a workflow system will handle request, navigation, and extraction steps. - A ligth-weight and semantic extraction engine deeply emedded into the execution engine workflow using semantic concepts, tokenization, and named entity recognition. -A server-side and client-side meta-search generator prototype which integrate all described aomponents, and the realization of at least one application scenario.
