Analysis of gun drilling process and development of a wear monitoring and drill fracture detection

The institut of production engineering has developed a procedure, which fully automatic steered deep hole boring with single flute gundrills up to length/diameter conditions of 400 in co-operation with the company Schöller Bleckmann. For more far-reaching tests and basic research projects its own deep hole drilling machine is designed, manufactured and built. Afterwards the drilling process is analyzed and continued to improve. In further consequence a system is developed for the drill fracture detection and wear monitoring.
