Laser decontamination of dental titanium implants
01.12.2006 - 31.07.2009
Research funding project
With lasers a very gently decontamination (cleaning) of dental implants becomes feasible, which is necessary to prevent parodentosis associated with the loss of bone. The surface of such Titanium implants is specially coated and structured for optimum ingrow into the jaw bone. Thus a damage of this layer is not permissible. In the scheduled work different lasers will be tested towards their applicability, especially the novel ultra-short pulse lasers.
