Novel strategies for resolving horticultural problems caused by soil-borne pathogens exemplified on strawberry crop
01.07.2006 - 30.06.2009
Forschungsförderungsprojekt
The project aims at using strawberry as a modell system for the development of novel and general strategies for the resolving of current problems in horticulture, which are caused by soil-borne pathogens. This includes 1. Evaluation of novel, early season varieties as an alternative to Elsanta 2. Investigation of factors and techniques to optimise the intercropping of Brassica juncea and evaluation of other possible preceeding crops to reduce soil-borne pathogens 3. Evaluation of novel approaches: antagonistic micro-organisms and plant activators. The project outcome will enable strawberry growers top produce fruits with optimal quality.
