Recent types of soft magnetic materials are characterized by continuous decrease of thickness in order to reduce eddy currents and the corresponding eddy current losses. However, the applied technologies are inefficient in cases where dynamic magnetization arises perpendicular to the area of lamination, a case where strong planar eddy currents (PECs) may arise, linked with planar eddy current losses. In a rather surprising way, the corresponding phenomena have not been clarified so far. A clarification is the target of the present project.
