LNG Masterplan

01.01.2013 - 31.12.2015
Assigned research project

The objective of this EU project is to identify possible LNG sourcing options, possible supply chain scenarios with regard to their costs and quality levels and to evaluate the options against each other as well towards the current fuel options. Cost scenarios for identified LNG supply chain options will be part of the work of this sub-activity. The outcome, especially with regard to the retail price of LNG will be an important input for the “LNG Demand Analysis” as price is the decisive factor for the magnitude of potential demand and for the cost-effectiveness of any investment in LNG propelled vessels. Another objective is to investigate into the market potentials of LNG as fuel for vessels and road vehicles as well as for its demand as energy source in respective industries. This work includes general and detailed market analysis, comprising the identification of potential LNG customers and dedicated interviews with potential key users. The LNG demand is heavily dependent on the LNG price gap to current fuel and energy costs as well as their future development. As there is still little awareness of many potential customers on the availability and costs of LNG, road vehicles, vehicle manufacturers will be invited to present their solutions in the framework of major dissemination activities.
