Wireless Evolution Beyond 3G

01.12.2005 - 31.12.2007
Research funding project
The HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) channels of UMTS provide data rates up to 14.4 Mbit/s and are currently incorporated into the networks by providers. The throughput shall be further increased by the use of MIMO techniques in future UMTS Releases. Several corporate proposals for this MIMO extension are currently considered by the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP). Our goal is to evaluate these MIMO proposals in terms of their throughput in different scenarios. This work is part of the ftw. Project C9: MIMO UMTS for future packet services.
