Compilation and analysis of regulations and guidelines regarding the number and organisation of parking spaces for motorized individual transport for Austria in the face of improvement of environmental states

In the last few years scientific research has prepared the groundwork for transport policy decisions in the field of parking of vehicles. These fundamentals have been included into technical bulletins and codes of professional institutions and are waiting for their practical implementation. An accurate analysis of existing Austrian building codes and garage ordinances needs to be conducted, to facilitate and accelerate this practical implementation and to derive recommendations for action therefore. The work program comprises of: 1. Compilation and examination of all laws regulating the number and arrangement of parking spaces and garages; 2. Introduction of at-hand technical bulletins and codes of the Austrian research Association on Roads and Transport (FSV) and the Austrian Transport Research Society (ÖVG); 3. Development of recommendations for action to fulfil the environmental policy¿s superordinate objectives under consideration of new insights 4. Practical recommendations for action catering for the specific Austrian provinces under consideration of the legal framework; 5. Workshop with experts from the provincial administrations, the Federal Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry, Environment and Water Management, the Federal Economic Chamber and others.
