Dams without or only with an imperfect cut-off walls in the permeable soil layer are in long-term due to underseepage caused erosion processes at a risk. If there is not enough attention paid to these processes they can initiate damages with significant effects. In scope of this research project the time-dependent ground flow behaviour beneath dams is investigated. Furthermore, the effect of relief measures is analysed to reduce the risk of hydraulic fracture and to estimate the impacts of the water logging potential in hinterland of the dam.
