MXene polymer composite for advance adhesives

01.08.2026 - 31.10.2026
Assigned research project

Electromagnetic Interference Shielding (EMIS) is critical in a world were communication, internet of things (IoT), and AI-assisted technologies are evolving rapidly. In an EMIS coating, adhesive are use to secure the adhesion to substrate, but they act as a layer where EM waves can already interact with the matter before reaching the designed EMIS layer.

In this collaboration with DELO, we aim to demonstrate an adhesive layer able to act as a first mediator of EMIS.

We propose MXene, a new family of 2D materials, as key to achieve this goal. MXene have reported excellent EMIS performances, surpassing their competitor such as graphene.

The work will consist of screening a series of combination of MXene and polymers used in DELO's adhesive.

Dispersability and conductivity of the diffeent mixture will be evaluated before to proceed to the preliminary EMSI tests.
