*Optimisation of the sewer system of the city of Linz, concept development for rehbilitation and storage capacity management

21.02.2005 - 30.04.2008
Assigned research project
The sewr system of the city of Linz/Austria has problems with combined sewer overflow discharge to small receiving waters and operates a waste water treatment plant. The whole project comprises a sewer simulation part, responsibility of University of Innsbruck (Prof. Rauch), and a waste water treatment plant part, responsibility of instiute 226. Our institute has developedin the past a study for the optimisation of sewer operation, also a dynamic treatment plant simulation tool has been developed for plant operation optimisation in the past, the results of both were used as basis for this study. This project concentrates on the optimisation of the flow control for primary and secondary treatment during wet weather flow in order to minimise pollution discharge.
