Advanced nanocrystalline halide active fibers for the mid-infrared

Extensive spectroscopic and laser investigation of a number of new low-phonon-energy crystalline and nanocrystalline fiber media is to be performed. The final aim is to evaluate them as potential room-temperature laser media, and eventually obtain lasing in the previously inaccessible at room temperature mid-infrared wavelength range between 2 and 9 µm.
