Enzymatic modification of wood particles

01.01.2005 - 31.12.2010
Research funding project
The modification of the wood surface by enzymatic coupling, particularly the covalent binding of amines/amides to wood lignin and urea/formaldehyde resins is the main topic of the project. Laccase catalyzed covalent coupling of ¿grafting¿ compounds onto wood lignin and particularly the subsequent covalent binding of coupled amines/amides to urea/formaldehyde resins during pressing will be evaluated and characterized One aspect of the project is the establishment of the technical requirements for reproducible and targeted variation of process parameters such as temperature, residence time and composition of the reactants. Another aspect is the routine production and extensive testing of particle boards made from enzymatically modified wood.
