Towards a sustainable revenue sharing system in Austria

Research content: The aim of sustainability as well as a variety of international agreements commit Austria to integrate this principle of sustainability in all fields of politics. The research project dedicates itself to the questions, (a) to which amount the present revenue sharing system, as the essential federalism-political instrument, satisfies the aim of sustainability and (b) which reforms could improve the level of achievement of this objective. The project is focused on two main problems: (a) the ecological dimension of governmental activity regarding the Austrian revenue sharing system; (b) The contribution of the Austrian revenue sharing system for the sustainability of spacial development.
