Development and Strengthening of International Relations

Research funding project
The project duration was September 1, 2003 - November 30, 2005. The project consortium included 3 partner universities from Uzbekistan and 3 partner institutions from the European Union. The project was approved and funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Tempus programme. The project grantholder was Vienna University of Technology, Austria. The project costs were 282947 Euro. Project objectives: - To establish modern international relations offices with skilled staff and up-to-date technical and information infrastructure at three universities in Uzbekistan; - To prepare information and promotional materials stimulating development of international co-operation. Project outcomes: - Trained staff members of the Uzbek partner universities in the areas of international relations, preparation and management of international projects, foreign languages, use of computers; - Developed and implemented new concept of International Relation Offices (IROs) at partner universities in Uzbekistan incl. new mission of the IROs, products and services provided by the IROs, new organisational structure of IROs, competencies of the staff members; - Equipment and software for the IROs were purchased and installed; - Expert literature for the IROs was purchased; - Web-pages of the Uzbek partner universities and their IROs were developed/updated; - Separate booklets "Welcome Guide" and information leaflets were developed and printed for each Uzbek partner university; - A Guidebook "Study opportunity abroad" was prepared and published; - An electronic database on scholarships, grants, and international educational and research programmes relevant for the development of international cooperation of Uzbek universities was developed; - Project results were disseminated.
