Faunistic spatial resistance analysis as basis for biotope network planning on city level

Development of a (sub-)urban biotope network in Ingolstadt including existing green and open spaces based on a spatial resistance analysis for selected animal species. Through qualification by means of the novel planning tool Animal-Aided Design, these areas can dissolve existing barriers. Three Natura 2000 areas border the city of Ingolstadt directly to the west and east. Between these three areas lies the "bottleneck" along the Danube. The constant influx of people to Ingolstadt leads to a densification of the inner city and also of the suburban settlement areas. Against this background, ensuring the interconnection of the FFH areas as well as the interconnection of existing habitats in the city is a major challenge that has not yet been adequately addressed in previous landscape planning. The results are to be incorporated into the update of the landscape planning.
