The aim of this contract will be to examine how well ASCAT soil moisture data have captured the recent series of extreme weather events in Europe. For this purpose, TUW will use the most recent version of the ASCAT soil moisture data and various ancillary data sets. The aim is to provide significantly enhanced methods for subsurface scatters affect ASCAT soil moisture retrievals during dry soil conditions.
