Railway track design on the basis of dynamic soil explorations

01.01.2005 - 01.04.2009
Auftragsforschungsprojekt
Research work: Extensive study of literature. Development of a relative simple and practicable method, that, together with easily and rapidly determined material parameters, makes possible certain prognosis of the dynamic and longterm behaviour of rail track systems and that can therefore be used for rail track design. Experiences with soil compaction and its control gained at the Institute for Soil Me-chanics and Geotechnical Engineering should thereby be used. An efficient tool for decision making when dimensioning railway cross sections should therewith be developed. Planning and monitoring of large scale tests that are suited to the research requirements and the local and time conditions in close collaboration with the ÖBB in order to make use of as many synergy effects as possible.
