Coordinated optimization of the use of renewable energy in grids and buildings during design and operation

01.04.2012 - 31.03.2015
Research funding project

Investigations have demonstrated that in an urban district a 100% coverage of the electric energy demand and even a surplus of production are principally possible by using renewable energy sources. Thus, this project aims at improving and optimizing energy efficiency and increasing coverage of individual demand by renewable energy within urban electricity networks and buildings through model predictive control and prognosis. The validation of the developed methods and strategies is performed on existing buildings (ENERGYBase, SOL4). Beside validated optimization methods and models the sustainable impact and useful outputs for planning and operation of smart city distribution networks will be the central findings of this project.
