Syngas for a Sustainable Brick Production

01.05.2012 - 31.10.2013
Research funding project

It is intended to study the applicability of syngas to brick firing by an experimental smallscale
approach at a high-temperature gasification facility. Since the quality and color of
bricks depends on different parameters like mineralogy of the brick clay and furnace
atmosphere, the influence of the changed gas properties on the properties of different
end products will be tested. Conceptual tasks like the design of the tests and the layout
of future brickworks as well as feedstock availability and legal and economic aspects
will add value to the experimental work.
