The rapid identification of health risks associated with insufficient immune responses to a broad range of viral infections is a pressing issue not only during times of pandemics. To determine successful immunization strategies of novel vaccines and ongoing protection of outdated vaccinations, a microfluidic microanalysis platform will be developed and tested using the proprietary VERB Technology. In course of the F&E project, an existing bioassay provided by Covirabio GmbH will be integrated into a computer controlled microfluidic platform to detect antiviral antibody levels in human plasma samples. The goal of the project is to develop a first proof-of-concept of a fully functional prototype (instrument and biochip) capable of actively moving fluids, performing sample dilutions and detection of antibody-virus interactions on a common lab-on-a-chip platform.
