The aim of the project is the connection of signalling and control of the railway (‘schedule’)
and the control of the railway power network by means of combined modelling and simulation
techniques. A subsequent optimization of the railway control allows for an energy saving
driving of all trains within the network. Consequently, e.g. braking and the energy-consuming
re-accelerating can be reduced. The special assistance systems, which will be developed
within the project, can directly transmit the recommendations (e.g. ’90 km/h instead of 100
km/h for a free track’) in real time to the train driver. A test track will be used to verify the
theoretical potential of energy savings of approximately 3%.
