The aim of SatPark research is to develop new methods to process easily available satellite images (e.g. Pléiades images with 50 cm resolution) to exploit their full potential for revolutionizing software driven parking space analysis.
Innovation is necessary in all processing steps, starting with geo-referencing and 3d reconstruction from images, detection and classification of objects, esp. vehicles, integration of these data in existing maps and finally algorithms to deliver on-street parking availability data and services. Besides a number of kernel technologies an integrated software prototype tested in a pilot area will illustrate the further application potential.
