Demonstration of charging logistics and special-purpose vehicles at Vienna International Airport

The overall goal of the project is to lay the basis for CO2-neutrality of the transport sector of the Vienna International Airport. The project focuses on developing Austrian products and acquiring new Know-How in order to secure technological competitiveness of Austrian companies in a profitable market in the future. The USP of the project lies in taking the impacts of an extension of the charging infrastructure on a local grid and the operational behaviour into account while developing new products that allow CO2-neutral charging processes not only within an annual balance, but in realtime. A battery storage system, a charging station with an integrated storage system to buffer peak loads and a special-vehicle will be developed by the consortium in order to bring innovative Austrian products to the market. The high visibility of the Vienna International Airport will not only underline Austria’s efforts to meet its CO2-emission targets, but also the innovation potential of local companies.
