A number of recent residential and industrial settlements in the City of Salzburg are evaluated on their effects on the municipal budget: Tax revenues are compared to the costs for infrastructure provision and the criteria for sustainable and beneficial settlements, both from an budgetary as well as from an urban planning point of view, are identified.
