Aim of course

- to know the structure of DC and AC drives

- to use space phasor theory for describing transient behaviour of AC drives

- to understand construction and control of DC and AC machines

Subject of course

Structure of electric drives, simple inverter structures, DC drives (construction, steady state and dynamic behaviour), space phasor theory, basics of AC drives using permanent magnet synchronous machines (PSM), Brushless DC operation of PSMs, torque-, speed- and position controlled drives
